UK University Fee Status Checker

Welcome to the Fee Status Checker.

This is a free tool to help you understand whether you might be eligible for Home tuition fees when applying to a UK university.

It takes less than 1 minute and you will immediately get a response to your inbox.

Our Fee Status Checker has been developed with British and Irish expatriate students in mind. Although it may be of use to students in other circumstances, it does not cover all categories of Home fee eligibility.

The result of the Fee Status Checker should be used as a guide only and does not give any guarantee of the fee status decision an individual university may give you.

You should use the results of the Fee Status Checker and the further resources provided to conduct your own research and seek personalised, expert advice where appropriate.

The calendar year the university course will start
Where you currently live on a day-to-day basis
Please note: whilst it is currently still possible that we can support new students who are commencing university in 2026, our ability to support you may be limited if you have already submitted your 2026 UCAS application. Following completion of the Fee Status Checker, if you are directed to and purchase a Fee Status Appraisal, we will advise you as part of the Appraisal whether we are able to offer progression to our Fee Status Support Service for 2026 entry based on the information you provide us and the evidence that you have to support your case.
Please note: this university entry year is too far in the future for us to offer our Fee Status Support Service at this time. We offer this Service up to 4 years before the course starts to those students, following a Fee Status Appraisal, that we consider have a legitimate case for Home fees. We recommend that you go ahead and complete this Fee Status Checker and also, if advised to do so in the Fee Status Checker outcome message, consider our Fee Status Appraisal Service now to get clarity on your case. If you purchase our Fee Status Appraisal more than 4 years before the start of your course, you will receive your Appraisal report within 2 working days and we will contact you at the appropriate time to invite you to book in for our Fee Status Support Service (if applicable).

Thank you for completing the Fee Status Checker. From the answers you have provided your eligibility for Home fees when studying at a UK university is uncertain. You must be settled in the UK but in England, if you acquire this status partway through your course it could be possible to change to Home fees in subsequent years of your course. It may be possible for you to be considered for Home fee status in Scotland where there is not a requirement to be settled and you just need to hold a temporary visa (except a student visa). An additional part of the requirements is to show how you have been ordinarily resident in the UK or the Republic of Ireland for the full three-year period before the university course starts or otherwise that you are only absent temporarily for employment purposes. If you have been living outside of the UK or the Republic of Ireland at any stage during this three-year period your case may be considered borderline and will be open to interpretation by individual universities. If you have been attending boarding school then it could be viewed that the main purpose of your residence is to attend full-time education which would complicate your case. You may benefit from a deeper look at your personal circumstances to understand your eligibility better and so we invite you to take up a Fee Status Appraisal with us. One of our specialist Advisors, who is trained and highly experienced in fee status legislation, will consult the details of your case and conduct a Fee Status Appraisal to give you further clarity on your fee status eligibility and your chances of achieving Home status at UK universities. Our Fee Status Appraisal costs £350. You can book this in here https://sticky.to/link/uk-study-options-fee-status-appraisal. Before you complete the Appraisal form you should consult the resources below as these could help you find the answers you need for your case.
